SNIPR™ ANPR breaks the 2000 resource base mark!
Well done to all involved, especially to Grant Hancock and Jeremy Malherbe. Ultimately we are only as great as our leaders.
We are backing the right team, and the productivity for South Africa continues to grow from strength to strength with our collaboration and investment, meaning that countless lives have been and will be saved.
The Police Ministry has a response and resource base through a collaborative partnership like no other and the competitive price points mean we can continue to our 10 000 camera mark.
Please continue to do all you can to help these guys and each other in rolling this out for our nation. Even just by being humbly proud and talking about the network that together we all have created.
From inception in 2013 to date this has given us a team effort of 250 units a year. Let’s do a 1000 units this year, and ladies, gentleman, COVID-19 pressures are no excuse for all of us in national, provincial and local leadership. COVID-19 is last year’s news and will be around for some years to come. If we achieve this together, then each year we will be 10% stronger in our fight, in our unity, in nation-building and in support offered to our Police Ministry.
As a reminder, when Together SA CAN (NPO) and SNIPR™ ANPR teamed up we made the public well aware of our goals of 10 000 units, with the goal 1000+ per province. Grant and I went on a tour of duty to meet various Generals, Commanders, Security Company Directors and Farm Associations.
At the time, Underberg Farm Association in KZN had the highest murder rate and we were still reeling from the Trevor Rees and Gavin Carter murders. The Association had quotes for cameras at around 2 million, but with the SNIPR™ ANPR model, this was reduced to R 800 000.
Some 38 cameras were proposed and 37 of those were installed. Regardless of local level debate and a blend of opinions, the community thrust forward with the advice that Grant and I brought to the table. This was one of the most defining moments in my life and as the years have gone by this has proven to be the greatest gift I could ever have delivered to Underberg.
This collaborative effort has contributed to not having had a murder since, and other crimes have also drastically reduced. The VCAT (NPO), Hawks and Crime Intelligence have had tons of covert successes on this arterial road between Kostad and Howick. The farm unity of Boston, Bulwer and Underberg continue to grow with much dialogue and teamwork on a local level because the SNIPR™ ANPR network is a joint investment.
The security companies also participate and Magma and Berg Protection each have their own strategies. One network, many teams, all glued together by technology. Regardless of what each organisation is doing, the community and the police ministry benefit the most.
Now that is one of the smartest investments in community safety for our nation.
This model of success has been copied and pasted over and over again to achieve a 97% coverage in Kwazulu Natal, proudly the home ground of our ERPC Collaboration Network has become the model for each province for those that take the time to see, hear and feel the results of this investment and growing collaboration. I think there are now some 86 associations all linked together.
The promise – 3 Units a day!
Grant and I shook hands, but it was more than that. It was our heart and soul investment into each other, into saving lives. We shared the dream, walked the walk and showed the talk. We asked all Political Leaders, Commanders, CEO, Directors, Community Leaders and the Public each in their ‘neutral common goal’ capacity to fight murder, rape and priority crimes, by helping us to install 3 cameras a day, or 1000 per year!
From Friday, 1 January 2016 to Thursday, 1 January 2026. 3653 days, or 10 years
We are a little behind, but still steadfast in our promise!
Let’s keep going together because we all believe that working Together SA CAN.
